Dolan Media Partners with NewsStand Inc. to Distribute Two New Orleans-based news publications in Digital Format
After Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Publisher Quickly Finds Another Way To Deliver Its Print Editions

AUSTIN, TX - October 7, 2005 - Dolan Media Company now has copies of its New Orleans-based business newspapers delivered via email to its readers using the technology of NewsStand Inc. A week after Hurricane Katrina hit, NewsStand began sending readers emails containing a link to the current week's digital edition of New Orleans CityBusiness, an exact replica of the print edition currently published in Baton Rouge. Soon after this weekly was available, The Daily Journal of Commerce readers were also able to access their publication through NewsStand's digital service.

The New Orleans CityBusiness and The Daily Journal of Commerce digital editions are exact replicas of the print versions, featuring full-color layouts with advertisements, photos and graphics. The NewsStand web-based format called iBrowse® enables users to quickly read articles, navigate between sections, print pages and search the full text.

New Orleans CityBusiness is southern Louisiana's leading business newspaper and The Daily Journal of Commerce is the largest construction-related daily newspaper in the South, serving readers in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.

"We quickly responded to Dolan Media's challenging situation of wanting its readers to have a copy of these newspapers as soon after the hurricanes as possible," commented Kit Webster, NewsStand's president and chief executive officer. "Digital editions can get through, no matter what the conditions, as long as readers can get access to a desktop or laptop. And during the aftermath of Katrina and Rita, it's very important to get business news out without disruption."

"When our readers and subscribers fled Katrina and scattered literally across the country, NewsStand helped us reach them quickly and efficiently, with the publications they were accustomed to receiving," said Dolan Media President Jim Dolan. "NewsStand now is a permanent part of our delivery plans and is playing a critical role in our business recovery in New Orleans."
